Basic Guidelines
- The applicant must be a registered 501(c)(3) corporation, school district, or government agency which serves the North Kitsap community.
- The project must address a need in one of our primary Focus Areas:
- Arts and Culture (including parks and recreation)
- Children and Youth Development
- Education
- Environment and Animal Welfare
- Health and Human Services (including housing, employment assistance and vocational training services)
- Project Criteria
- Grant Size: Generally, $25,000-$100,000, though larger grants can be considered.
- Preferred Funding Type: Capital
- Project functional lifespan of at least 10-25 years.
- Impacts a large number of people in the community.
- Gives the community an asset it would not otherwise have.
- Serves the disadvantaged members of our community.
- Benefits North Kitsap residents in total or in part or, if outside our club area, the project is financially co-sponsored by another Rotary club.
- Other Considerations
- The importance of Rotary funding to the viability of the capital project.
- How a major grant from Rotary will leverage additional fundraising for the project.
- Applicant’s ability to fund ongoing maintenance, if applicable, without making additional requests of Rotary.
- Past applicants and award winners may apply again.
Expectations of Grant Recipients
- Grant funds will be used within the timeframe proposed in the application (unless an extension is requested)
- Grant funds will be returned to the Club if the proposed project is cancelled or otherwise not completed.
- Award winners will report back to the Club on the use of funds and the benefits derived.
- Award winners will acknowledge support of Poulsbo Rotary in social media posts, web sites, and project-specific communications.
Application Process
- The first step in the application process is submission of a short pre-qualification form that describes the project and how it will improve the quality of life, well-being, and/or safety of our North Kitsap community.
- Log into the Common Grant Application system.
- If you are first-time applicant, follow on-site instructions to setup a new account. If you’re returning user, log in with your username and password.
- Watch the Youtube video which describes how to navigate the Common Grant Application system:
- Navigate to the Poulsbo Rotary page where you can start your application.
- If your pre-qualification request is approved, you will receive an invitation and instructions on how to submit a more detailed proposal with supporting information.
- Pre-proposal applications may be submitted at any time.
