How to Apply for a Scholarship

The Poulsbo-North Kitsap Rotary scholarship program began in 1993 and has awarded hundreds of scholarships to deserving students.  Many of these students have excelled in their chosen fields of study and moved on to successful professional careers.  The community has realized significant benefit from the club’s investment in outstanding North Kitsap Students.

The Club currently sponsors four scholarship programs described below.

Academic Scholarships for New Freshmen: These scholarships range from $500 to $2500 and are awarded to students graduating this year from an accredited high school located within the geographical boundaries of North Kitsap High School, as well as to graduating home schooled students who live within the same boundaries.  [See Note 1 below for more information.]

Academic Scholarships for College Students: These scholarships range from $500 to $2500 and are awarded to sophomores, juniors or seniors enrolled full-time in an accredited college or university and who are permanent residents of the area served by North Kitsap High School.  Full time students in their junior or senior academic years at Western Washington University (Poulsbo branch) are also eligible (regardless of permanent residency).  [See Note 1 below for more information.]

Professional/Technical (Vocational) Scholarships: These scholarships range from $500 to $2500 and are awarded to individuals pursuing a professional or technical certification (i.e., not a 2- or 4-year degree) at a technical/professional school or community college.  Qualifying programs include (but are not limited to) engineering, computer technology, hospitality, dental or medical fields, construction, automotive or cosmetology.  [See Note 2 below for more information].

Special Needs or “Finish Line” Scholarships:  These scholarships are available to residents of the area served by North Kitsap High School who are close to completing a degree or certification program but, due to financial hardship, may not get there. These scholarships are awarded based on circumstances and financial need, and requests are considered year-round. [See Note 3 below for more information].
